Communicate™ Junior is a co-operative social skills board game targeting 12 essential social communication skills, designed for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), counsellors, and teachers with students in grades prekindergarten through grade 4 and children ages 3 to 10.
A co-operative game format where every player wins by working through 12 everyday social skills together gives Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and educators a motivating, low-pressure context for building the social communication foundations that students need across home, school, and community settings.
Communicate™ Junior invites all players to a pizza party — with one catch: they must practise their social skills to get ready! Players move around the 18" x 18" game board responding to lower and higher-level questions about 12 social skills: Listening, Voice (tone and volume), Conversations (starting, maintaining, and ending), Following Rules, Sharing and Taking Turns, Eye Contact, Hygiene, Body Language, Facial Expressions, Ignoring, Time and Place, and Manners. Players earn "party food" tokens as they answer each card correctly. Because everyone works together and everyone wins, the co-operative format removes the competition pressure that can make social skills practice feel high-stakes for students who already struggle with these skills.
