Early language skills, naming actions, understanding opposites, and sorting things into groups come to life when practice feels like play. Sticky Steps: Early Language Skills turns that practice into an active game for students in prekindergarten and up.

Build early vocabulary and concepts through an active, card-matching game played with a suction-cup sneaker.

In Sticky Steps: Early Language Skills, players step on face-down mystery cards with a suction-cup sneaker and match them to their cards to score. The 80 rectangle cards target action verbs, opposites, things that go together, and functions, while silly special cards add twists that keep young learners engaged.

Skills targeted:

  • Action verbs
  • Opposites
  • Things that go together
  • Functions

How to play:

  1. Deal three rectangle cards to each player and scatter the mystery cards face down; the youngest player starts.
  2. On your turn, use the sneaker to step on a mystery card and match it to one of your rectangle cards to score.
  3. Coin cards earn bonus points, while gum and poop cards add silly setbacks.
  4. Play continues until one player runs out of rectangle cards; the player with the most mystery cards wins.

Who is this early language game helpful for?

Sticky Steps: Early Language Skills is ideal for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), special educators, and classroom teachers. It suits students from prekindergarten through grade 6 who are building early vocabulary and concepts, and it works in individual therapy, small group intervention, and classroom activities.

Why Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), special educators, and teachers love this game:

The active step-and-match format suits young learners who do better moving than sitting, and the four skill areas cover the early language goals therapists target most. The silly special cards keep motivation high across a full game.

Sticky Steps: Early Language Skills includes:

  • 80 rectangle cards (action verbs, opposites, things that go together, and functions)
  • 104 mystery cards
  • 12 coin cards
  • 8 sticky gum cards
  • 4 stinky poop cards
  • 1 sneaker with suction cup
