Language Strategies for Children is a 256-page reproducible language programme targeting language comprehension, oral expression, and story grammar in students in grades 2 through grade 5 and children ages 7 to 11, designed for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers.
Two hundred and fifty-six pages of curriculum-based reproducible lessons, homework activities, and skills checklists give Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers a structured, multi-modal language programme for mid-elementary students who need systematic support in language comprehension, expressive language, and story grammar.
Language Strategies for Children implements high-interest, curriculum-based lessons organised into three units, each focusing on language comprehension, oral expression, and story grammar knowledge. The reproducible lessons reinforce listening, questioning, categorising, sequencing, reasoning, and vocabulary skills through whole language philosophy, curriculum-aligned content, literature-based techniques, and strategies for self-prompting using visual reminders. A CD-ROM for printing all activities, posters, and barrier games is included. Programme components include lessons, homework activities, skills checklists, parent newsletters, and a summer calendar. Developed by Michele Fagan and Vicki Prouty.
Who is this language programme helpful for?
Language Strategies for Children is designed to target language comprehension, oral expression, story grammar, listening, questioning, categorising, sequencing, reasoning, and vocabulary in students in grades 2 through grade 5 and children ages 7 to 11. Ideal for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers in individual sessions, pull-out groups, or classroom language instruction settings.
Why Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers love this programme:
The structured, three-unit format provides a clear scope and sequence for mid-elementary language intervention that aligns directly with classroom curriculum demands, making it easier for SLPs to demonstrate educational relevance and for teachers to integrate language support into content-area instruction. The homework activities, parent newsletters, and summer calendar extend learning beyond the school day. Developed by Michele Fagan and Vicki Prouty.
