Older students face social situations with real stakes among peers, and understanding another person’s point of view is central to handling them. These photo cards use realistic tween and teen scenarios to build empathy and flexible thinking.
Build empathy and social understanding through photo-based scenarios that show tweens and teens in realistic interactions.
The Perspective Taking Tweens & Teens Double Dice Add-On Deck helps older students understand events, emotions, and reactions from multiple points of view, a skill central to meaningful communication and relationships. Each card features a photograph and a short social story showing tweens and teens in realistic interactions. With 54 scenarios and 216 follow-up questions, students practise interpreting emotions, predicting reactions, and recognizing that more than one perspective can be valid.
Skill targets:
- Perspective taking: recognizing and understanding different viewpoints
- Emotion recognition in self and others
- Pragmatic reaction awareness and appropriate responses
- Flexible thinking: more than one valid interpretation
How to play:
- Place nine cards face down on the table.
- The student rolls the double dice.
- The outer die reveals a shape, so flip over the card with the matching shape.
- The inner die reveals a number, so read the corresponding prompt.
- The student responds, then play moves to the next student.
Who are these photo cards helpful for?
The Perspective Taking Tweens & Teens Double Dice Add-On Deck is ideal for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), special educators, and classroom teachers, and it fits pragmatic language therapy and social skills groups. Particularly valuable from grade 5 upward through the high school years, since perspective-taking and social reasoning keep developing across adolescence. These photo cards support individual therapy, small group intervention, classroom-based social skills programming, and home practice with families.
Why Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) love this deck:
These photo cards use age-appropriate scenarios that older students recognize from their own lives, which keeps engagement high where younger materials would fall flat. The four questions per card move from interpreting emotions to role-playing responses, letting you scale to each student. The double dice (sold separately) keep students engaged across the 216 questions.
Perspective Taking Tweens & Teens Double Dice Add-On Deck includes:
- 54 large-format playing cards (3 x 5 inches) with photos, short social stories, and four pragmatic follow-up questions per card (216 total)
- Answer cards, direction cards, and game variation cards
- Durable storage tin for easy organization
Please note: This is an add-on deck. The double dice is not included, but can be purchased separately here.
