The Processing Program® Level 1 (2nd Edition) is a revised picture-identification task programme targeting 46 basic concepts and vocabulary words, designed for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) with students in grades prekindergarten through grade 5 and children ages 3 to 11 who have difficulty processing or learning basic language structures and concepts.
One hundred and sixty-one full-colour picture plates across 11 progressive levels give Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) a comprehensive, evidence-based programme for building basic concept comprehension in children with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism, and cochlear implants.
The Processing Program® Level 1 (2nd Edition) targets 46 basic concepts and vocabulary words from the categories of singular and plural nouns, pronouns, sizes, colours, quantities, prepositions, and conjunctions. The 2nd Edition includes updated, full-colour illustrations, 11 new levels, and 42 additional picture plates compared to the 1st Edition (161 total), as well as additional concepts, sentence structures, and directions. Clinicians learn how to use the Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique to modify commands for each child's processing profile, and how to teach the AAI technique to parents and communication partners for home carryover. By Sandra McKinnis, M.A., CCC-SLP.
Who is this processing programme helpful for?
The Processing Program® Level 1 is designed for students in grades prekindergarten through grade 5 and children ages 3 to 11 who have difficulty processing or learning basic language structures and concepts, including those with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and cochlear implants. Used by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in individual or small group intervention.
Why Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) love this programme:
The Altered Auditory Input technique is one of the few evidence-based strategies specifically designed for children who cannot process standard-length auditory commands, and having a structured 11-level programme with 161 picture plates means SLPs can work systematically from the simplest commands through complex multi-component directions without creating custom materials at each level. The 2nd Edition's updated illustrations and expanded concept set give clinicians significantly more material than the original. By Sandra McKinnis, M.A., CCC-SLP.
The Processing Program® Level 1 (2nd Edition) includes:
- 359-page reproducible manual with 161 full-colour picture plates across 11 progressive levels
- 46 basic concepts across singular/plural nouns, pronouns, sizes, colours, quantities, prepositions, and conjunctions
- Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique instruction for clinicians and communication partners
