The Processing Program® Levels 2 and 3 (2nd Edition) is a two-level picture-identification task program targeting advanced language-processing skills, designed for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) with students in grades 1 through 8 and children and youth ages 6 to 14 who have difficulty processing complex directions and concepts.

One hundred and eighty-four full-colour picture plates across two progressive levels give Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) a structured, evidence-based programme for advancing from basic to complex language processing in children with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism, and cochlear implants.

The Processing Program® Levels 2 and 3 (2nd Edition) is presented as a single 407-page hardback manual. Level 2 targets 101 advanced concepts for children ages 6 to 9, using 119 picture plates and the Language Web and Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique to improve language-processing skills through picture-identification tasks with increasingly complex directions. Level 3 uses many of the same Level 2 concepts plus 17 additional concepts, presented in longer and more complex command combinations for children ages 9 to 12, using 65 picture plates. Both levels teach clinicians how to identify the specific modifications each student needs and how to apply AAI to reduce auditory processing demands. By Sandra McKinnis, M.A., CCC-SLP.

Who is this processing program helpful for?

The Processing Program® Levels 2 and 3 is designed for students in grades 1 through 8 and children and youth ages 6 to 14 who have difficulty processing advanced language concepts and complex directions, including those with attention deficit disorders, auditory processing disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and cochlear implants. Used by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in individual or small group intervention.

Why Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) love this programme:

Having Levels 2 and 3 bound together in a single hardback manual makes it practical to transition students between levels mid-programme without switching materials, and the progression from 101 advanced concepts (Level 2) to longer, more complex command combinations (Level 3) provides a clear clinical pathway from basic comprehension through complex multi-step direction following. The hardback format is built for the frequent handling that comes with intensive use across a full caseload. By Sandra McKinnis, M.A., CCC-SLP.

The Processing Program® Levels 2 and 3 (2nd Edition) includes:

  • 407-page hardback manual containing both levels:
  • Level 2: 119 picture plates, 101 advanced concepts for ages 6-9
  • Level 3: 65 picture plates, same concepts as Level 2, plus 17 additional in longer, more complex commands for ages 9-12
  • Language Web and Altered Auditory Input (AAI) technique instruction
