Webber® Photo Cards: What Are They Thinking? is a photo card set targeting inferencing and reasoning skills, designed for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers with students in grades prekindergarten and up and children ages 3 and up.

Sixty clever photographs each showing a person or animal with a visible thought bubble give Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers a versatile, discussion-based tool for building inferencing, perspective-taking, and conversational language skills.

Webber® Photo Cards: What Are They Thinking? uses candid, real-life photography to engage students in inferencing tasks. Each card shows a person or animal with a "thought bubble" above their head, and students use the visual cues in the photograph to reason about what the subject is thinking. The same cards can also be used to prompt conversational speech, creative storytelling, or writing activities, making this a multi-purpose resource for language development. Content cards are provided in six languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and Chinese. Developed by Sharon G. Webber, M.S.

Who is this photo card set helpful for?

Webber® Photo Cards: What Are They Thinking? is designed to target inferencing, reasoning, perspective-taking, and expressive language skills in students in grades prekindergarten and up and children ages 3 and up. Ideal for use by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers in individual therapy sessions, small group instruction, or as a discussion and writing prompt resource in classroom settings.

Why Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and teachers love these photo cards:

The thought-bubble photograph format makes the inferencing task visually concrete in a way that purely verbal inferencing prompts do not, making it more accessible for younger students and visual learners. The open-ended nature of the task means responses can range from single words to full narrative accounts, making the cards flexible for students across a wide range of language levels. The multilingual content card makes the resource accessible for bilingual and multilingual therapy and classroom contexts. Developed by Sharon G. Webber, M.S.

Webber® Photo Cards: What Are They Thinking? includes:

  • 60 photo cards (3" x 4")
