Word Joggers® Junior

Word Joggers® Junior is a word-retrieval resource for Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), special educators, teachers, and parents who provide early intervention for young students from prekindergarten through grade 2 who have difficulty finding the right words. By Elaine Krassowski.

Two hundred colour-coded Prompt Cards paired with 200 illustrated Picture Cards across five everyday categories give Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) a structured, engaging tool for early word-retrieval intervention that targets five different word-jogging strategies.

When a word-finding problem affects a child's communication, it also impacts academics, social interaction, and self-esteem. Word Joggers® Junior addresses this early through five categories relevant to a child's daily life and five types of prompts that provide different pathways to word retrieval. Students respond to prompts on the Prompt Cards by finding and naming the matching Picture Card, combining a verbal retrieval strategy with a visual cue.
